Miracles happen every day and all around us. But you may not always notice them. Learning to tune in to the miracles of life—both big and small—and contributing to making them happen can help you find purpose in your life. And having a strong purpose is one of the most powerful things you can do to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
In a 4-part series on The Brain Warrior’s Way Podcast with special guest Kelli Davis, the head of celebrity relations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and host of the Untold Miracles podcast, you’ll discover more about how looking for the little everyday miracles in life and giving back can be powerfully healing for you. In this inspiring series, Kelli also shares some of her favorite stories of celebrities giving back.
5 Ways To Start Noticing The Miracles In Life
1. It’s never about you.
If you want to live a purposeful life, remember, it’s always about others and what you can do to make a difference in someone’s life. When you wake up, think about, “Who can I serve today? Who can I help today?” Even when you’re suffering—whether it’s with anxiety, depression, or something else—choosing to focus on others rather than focusing on your own problems is a powerful strategy to help you feel better fast.
2. You have to believe.
When something is really hard, and you don’t think you’re going to get through it, you have to trust that miracles are real and they’re possible. They don’t have to be big miracles, they can be little ones. The sun is shining. That’s a miracle. You woke up. That’s a miracle. Everything in life is a miracle. You just have to believe and look for miracles around you.
3. Start young.
Teach your children to give back. If they get $10 of allowance a week, encourage them to donate $1. When you do that, you teach them to get outside of themselves and into other people. This is important in our society where social media drives us to focus on ourselves and contributes to depression, especially in teenage girls.
4. Start your day with “Today is going to be a miraculous day.”
One way to ensure that you will look for life’s miracles is to start every day by saying, “Today is going to be a great day.” When you do this, your unconscious mind then begins to find why it’s going to be a miraculous day. This can be particularly beneficial for people with depression, who often struggle in the mornings.
5. Being purposeful enhances brain function.
Having meaning in your life actually brings pleasure to the brain and helps keep it healthy. When your brain is healthy, you feel happier, less anxious, and more motivated. L
